John and Sarah Hopkins Jennings emigrated to Ohio in the early 1800s, arriving about 1810 (see below). They were among a group of people from Haddonfield and vicinity who made this migration, locating in the new community of Waynesville, Warren county. Many Quakers came to this area from the east and south. This was rich farm land, and Waynesville became a largely-Quaker town for a while.
Sarah had married John "contrary to discipline," meaning that they didn't follow the prescribed procedures for marriage set down by the Quaker meetings. Because of this, they were disowned, and were no longer members of the meeting.
John Jennings came to Wayne Twp, Warren County in 1810, and bought
a mill. In 1825 he built a brick mill.

John and Sarah Jennings were Waynesville pioneers. Her sister married
Samuel Heighway. Their daughter, Rebecca Clark Jennings, married James
Harris of Vermont, son of Israel Harris of Rutland.
